Hi, I am Liz Taylor and I run The Silver Bird, an artisan, handmade jewellery business from my workshop in a semi-rural village in Cambridgeshire, specialising in bespoke commissions, and customisable pieces. My passion for contemporary jewellery grew during my Product Design degree course. As a Design and Technology teacher of 16 years, I have taught hundreds of young people how to design and make novel, beautiful products, by exploring material properties and generating unique forms. Early in my teaching career, I completed a Masters at Cambridge University, focusing on creative idea generation and development. This gave me a particular passion for biomimicry; using and replicating the nature through product design to make unique textures and forms.

All my designs are hand-made in fine or 925 sterling silver, using processes that exploit its outstanding physical, chemical, and aesthetic properties, such as fold forming, forging, anti-clastic raising and oxidation techniques. I love the diversity of appeal offered by natural gemstones, and hand-pick each stone for it's unique aesthetic qualities.
