Caring for your Silver

Tips for keeping your silver sparkling and tarnish-free

Rub your silver occasionally with an anti-tarnish cloth to keep your jewellery looking like new. Avoid contact with perfumes and hairspray.

If your item contains blackened silver, be careful! Blackening of silver is achieved by a chemical process called oxidation. Oxidized silver jewellery should not be cleaned with jewellery cleaning cloths, dishes or aggressive polishing that will strip the blackened surface. Clean only when necessary, using a mild dish detergent and soft toothbrush with as little rubbing as possible.

Protect gemstones from drops or blows. Clean in mild detergent and warm water, scrubbing with a soft brush. Avoid scrubbing too hard else you may scratch the stone. Rinse and dry gently with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not clean gemstones using ultrasonic cleaners.
